Seeing the boxes of brand new Eurosport GC kit arriving at the Tenn warehouse could only mean one thing; we had to take it on a test. There is nothing quite like being the first people to ride with a new range of cycle clothing where it is designed to be – on a bike, on the road.

Donning the Black GC bib-shorts, Jersey, socks and cap I set off to nearby sunny, but distinctly breezy, Bexhill-on-Sea to put the kit through its paces. So how did it fair? Was the range as good to wear as it was to look at?

We knew that the specification for the range was high and included all the additional features expected of items that cost much more from established brands. We also knew that the fit was designed to be on the ‘sporty’ side.  At 6’ 4” with a 6’ 8” arm-spam, I’m not used to finding long-sleeved cycling gear that fits properly. But you can see from the image below that the XXL GC Jacket wasn’t too much of a problem (believe me, this is long for cycling kit with my arms!).

Anyone that has ever bought cycling kit will know that sizing can vary considerably from brand to brand. It seems that factories will do anything to save a few yards of fabric by shaving off a few millimetres here and there. Trying a new brand is a genuine voyage of discovery and often requires a sizing re-think. Having worn virtually every brand of cycling over the years and owning several other Tenn products, I had a reasonable idea of what to expect. The good news was that there were no nasty surprises. The XL bib-shorts aren’t tight on me but had plenty of length in the leg and over the shoulders. Even though I’m not a svelte as I was and while the XXL Jacket arms did nearly reach my hands, it was, perhaps, slightly looser than I might have liked. The XL Jersey was a good a fit as any I’ve ever worn with enough room in the shoulders and length in the body without being baggy.

The lightweight GC Jacket performed exactly as I thought it should. The day of the ride wasn’t cold by any means, but the wind did have that onshore bite to it that meant until I was warmed up, I’d need the Jacket. I did warm up, but only after riding up and down the short, sharp Galley Hill half a dozen times for the snapper to take some phone pics.

With regards to comfort, first impressions were good. A real test would need a century outing, but the short few miles we did was enough to suggest that everything would stay comfortable; the pad in the shorts was in the right position, there were no seams that were upsetting me and the zips all worked as they should. The little technical details like the reflective strips on the shorts and the Jacket sleeves and logos did mean that I looked more like a road rider than a commuter but also proved that safety hadn’t been ignored. The zipped Jersey pocket had been well designed for easy access, and the zip garages at the tops of the Jersey and Jacket meant no rubbing on the neck.

For the first test on a short ride we were pleased with the results – in the coming weeks we’ll put a few more miles in the kit, and we’ll see how everything performs on the longer rides. We’ll be back.

Rider: Simon, 55 yrs, 90kgs, 6’4”

Size Charts & Buying Guide

Size charts & buying guide

Below are the Tenn sizing charts, and some information about measuring, and technical properties which we hope will be helpful. If there is anything you need a hand with, that we have not included here, please Contact Us and we are always happy to help!

Measuring

As a general rule, keep the measuring tape firm, but not too tight. If you're measuring yourself, try to take them more than once, to average out any change in your posture.

Measuring your chest:

Simply measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level under your arms and across your back.

Measuring your waist:

Just measure around the narrowest part of your body at your hips.

Measuring for gloves:

Wrap a tape measure around your strongest hand just below the knuckles and fingers, make a loose fist. Please round up to the nearest size and (not down).
